This is a poem. And a vote. And another page from “The World’s Longest Open Love Letter”. Fear not though…
Saved for years toward buying/building a house. Having long followed prices in the region the only way I can do that is to mortgage, a thing I’m on principal unwilling to do.
I’m a closet economics / mathematics hobbyist. Also an aficionado of the dark arts of media: journalism, marketing, PR. Foci in Philosophy at Pitt included ethics, comparative lit, existentialism, law, government, plato, logic (failed 1st so took logic twice).
Spent a decade of my prime adult working life check-to-check writing “The World’s Longest Open Love Letter”. Much of that novel has been cagily and actually published /aired / screened / collected but there was no money in it. It was the right thing to do. It had to be done.
Not long ago realized I could certainly not retire check-to-check and turned the “holy-shit” spigot full on. The golden twins are a physical representation of that effort. With them comes gravitas, quality jobs with quality people. The money will take care of itself or so I hope.
Toward tomorrow I’ve used a portion of that saved house-dream to vote for the future I want for the next gens.
It was a wonderful birthday.
